Project Details

Campo de Búzios, formerly known as Franco, is part of the pre-salt formation and is an onerous transfer wholly owned and operated by Petrobras. It is located at a depth of 1,600-2,000m and in December 2013 was declared commercial. As part of the initial and mandatory exploratory plan, Petrobras acquired 3D seismic data on the entire area, drilled two mandatory wells and another six in order to define and characterize the reservoirs of the deposit. A 3.058Bboe volume has been found in the area, showing good quality oil (between 26º and 28º API). In December 2014, Brazilian sector regulator ANP authorized Petrobras to begin production, which was started ahead of time, in March 2015. The field currently has an average production of 15,000b/d which has been limited due to gas use restrictions. Petrobras, the federal government and ANP entered into an assignment agreement in 2010, which grants the company the right to carry out prospection and drilling activities for oil, natural gas and other liquid hydrocarbons located in blocks in the pre-salt area (Franco, Florim, Nordeste de Tupi, Entorno de Iara, Sul de Guará and Sul de Tupi), limited to the production of 5Bboe in up to 40 years and renewable for a further five years if certain conditions are met.
