The theft attempts caused a fire and a leak respectively and both forced the state-run company to activate its internal emergency response plan, Pemex said in a press release.
The affected pipeline connects Pemex' refineries in Tula and Salamanca. It has an extension of 226km with a capacity of 87,000b/d and transports gasoline, diesel and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE).
Pemex registered 1,228 fuel-tapping incidents in February this year, an increase of 50% year-over-year.
