Founded in 2004, Canada's Silver Wheaton is a silver streaming company with long-term agreements to purchase all or a portion of the silver production from mines in Mexico, Sweden, Peru, Greece, Portugal, Canada and the US. Its operating mines include Goldcorp's Luismin, Aurcana's La Negra, Capstone Mining's Cozamin, Farallon Resources' Peñasquito and Campo Morado in Mexico; Glencore's Yauliyacu in Peru; and the Navidad development project in Argentina. The miner also has a 25% stake in Barrick Gold's Pascua Lama gold-silver project on the border of Chile and Argentina. In May, 2009, Silver Wheaton completed the acquistion of Silverstone Resources. The company operates buying future metal production from low-cost operations run by other companies at a fixed price, helping insulate profits from price fluctuations and cost increases. It expects 40% increase in attributable production by 2019, driven largely by Latin American mines.
