Latin American steel group Alacero is a non-profit organization representing producers of steel, iron and related metals in the region, while encouraging innovation and sustainability. The organization is considered a special consultancy agency by the UN. The association was founded in 1959 as the Latin American iron and steel institute Ilafa, with a mission to promote regional integration to strengthen the steel industry. Alacero is based in Santiago, Chile.
