Description

Jamaica Public Service Limited (JPS) is a Jamaican electricity supplier, controlled by the partnership between Marubeni Corporation and Korea East-West Power Co. Ltd. (80%), together with the Government of Jamaica (19%). It was constituted in 1892 for generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in the Jamaican territory. Based in Kingston, it owns and operates 4 thermal plants, 8 hydroelectrics, 1 wind power plant, 43 substations and 14,000 kms of transmission and distribution lines. In addition, it owns the Old Harbor Gas Turbine Plant project (190MW), located in Old Harbor Bay.
